Stretford Victoria FC Founded 1977
17 Jul 2009

Stretford Victoria FC were founded early in the year of 1977 by two friends, who were avid Man Utd fans and football fanatics in general, Joey Jones and Tom Howard.
The club started to host training sessions at their first long time base of Victoria Park in stretford. An advert was placed in the Old Journal Paper an around 50 - 60 children turned up interested in playing, and so the story began.
A big thank you must go out to all the influential people who helped make the club what it is today, Eddie & Barbara Fahey, Alan Hogan, Arthue & Win Shepherd, Eddie & Irene Smedley and Betty & Graham Gittson.
The club first started playing with just 2 teams, U13's & U15's both in the Levenshulme Junior Football League.
In only the second season , and playing at our now home ground of Turn Moss, Vic's won the Treble with the likes of John Sheridan who went on to be a success at Leeds Utd, Sheff Utd and the Republic of Ireland. His Brother Darren also featured for vic's and had successfull spells with Leeds also and Barnsley.
As the years went on we joined the Timperley JFL with a further 2 teams , making it 4 Stretford vic's junior teams.
As time passed we had alot of success in the league winning numerous League titles and cups at all level's. Then we entered the Manchester County Cup in 1989 and won it first time out , Beating Newbury Ace's 1-0 in the final with a goal from Phil Holt.
Vic's went on to make 20 final appearances over the years and managed to win the manchester county cup an impressive 12 times.
Then we moved into the salford JFL with 6 teams and in 1 year win 5 league titles and 5 cup's, something that has never happened before. As the years passed we moved back to the Timperley JFL and continued to prospher, entering the Umbro International Cup which to date we have won Twice with the open age squad,5 with the Vets, Once with the ladies and 8 times with the youth squads and boast an impressive 25 final appearances in all age groups.
Cliff Andrew then joined the club and made a big difference with his excellent training techniques and coaching skill's. Dave Parker & John Roberts startedthe mini soccer, first club to have centre at our new home Kendal Sports.
In that era one of our managers stood out , Ron Norwood, whose team won everything before them except the county cup. Gary Sampson arrived and was another success story and their has been so many over the years who have helped build this club and after alot of hard work the club acheived Charter standard at youth and adult level, which Rhys Bennet was instrumental in helping us gain.
We are now a charter standard club at youth and adult level, we are a full member club and have produced some excellent players over the years , just to mention a few -
John Sheridan- Leeds Utd, Sheff Utd, Eire International USA 94
John Grant- Crewe Alexandra, Aldershot
