Report

Not for the first time this season Stretford Victoria FC were let down by players not turning up.  5 minutes before kick off the Vics only had 9 men, but then Kris Harwood arrived even though he'd be ill all the way to the ground and Simon Sculley played to help the team out.  The Vics also had new signing Craig Hare making his debut for the club.

With the Vics upto 11 men the game kicked off with a patched up side and quickly the Vics were creating chances when some good work between Pierre Webb and Kyle Millington saw Ricky Strachan turn and shoot, which produced an excellent save down to his left by the Woodsend keeper.  From the corner swung in by Jerome Mundell a header from Ricky again was excellently saved by the Woodsend keeper.

Woodsend took the lead against the run of play when the left winger turned inside Craig Hare an attempted cross curled all the way over past Vics keeper Gaz Cooke into the far corner of the goal.

1-0 Woodsend.

The Vics continued to try and play football and again some good work this time between Jerome Mundell and Kyle Millington again found Ricky Strachan who burst through 1-on-1 with the Woodsend keeper who again made an excellent save.

The Vics were then caught out on the counter attack when a long ball over the top, Simon Sculley was beaten to a bouncing ball by the Woodsend striker who finished the long ball passed Gaz for 2-0

Half Time 2-0 Woodsend.

The Vics continued to press and created chances but no matter what they did they couldnt get the ball in the Woodsend goal.  Again a corner from Jerome Mundell was headed out by the Woodsend defender and Kyle Millington caught it on the half volley and the ball scrapped the bar on the way over.  Another close shave.

The Vics task was then made even more difficult when Craig Hare went up for a header and landed badly on his ankle and had to come off which meant they were down to 10 men, which would have been 9 but Kris Harwood battled on with a groin injury!

Woodsend then made the numerical advantage and the advantage of having subs to bring on count when both there subs added to the scoreline to make the score 4-0 in the end to Woodsend.

The result leaves the Vics to concentrate now on trying to reach 2nd place in the league and a week off to regroup and get players back fit.
